Owner, pawrent, dog mum, dog dad, pet parent - what do you call yourself when it comes to your relationship with your dog?
And when we say dog, of course, we mean furbaby!
We’re totally obsessed with our dogs, we love them. They’re a huge part of our life and our family - we just couldn’t be without them.
So when it comes to how we refer to ourselves, the word owner just doesn’t cut it.
To us, they’re our babies, our furbabies, so it’s only right that we’d consider ourselves their pawrents.
In fact, research carried out by Petovly backs that up.
Petovly surveyed 2750 dog owners to get a clearer picture of the human-dog bond and learn what we’d be ready to do for our dogs.
And the results confirm it, our dogs are part of the family, but we already knew that.
The research found that 99% of respondents consider their dog a family member with 60% referring to themselves as dog parents instead of owners.
Some even went as far as to say they love their dogs just as much as their children.
But this research comes as no surprise to us here at TeamDogs - our canine companions are loving and loyal and we share an indescribable bond with them.
Here’s what some of the respondents had to say about their dogs:
One said: “I feel a strong connection with my dogs and I would say I love them as my best friends.
“They were by my side in those moments when people weren’t. In their silence, I found comfort that no human words could have given me.”
A second said: “That little sweet creature is saving me from this world. When he looks at me, he tells a story. When we walk together, it feels like the two of us are one being. When I remember that one day he won’t be around.. uh! I adore him!”
A third added: “My dog completes my life. It’s in all of my plans and I wouldn’t trade him for anything. I start the day with my dog and finish it with him!”
Another said: “My furry friend is my best friend. She gets the best out of me. She is very gentle and has a great personality. I love her so much and she is always on my mind when I’m not with her.
“I don’t know how I have lived without her so far. I hope that she will stay with us for a long time and that we will be able to make her happy for the rest of her life.”
