If a 100-metre Dachshund Dash doesn’t get you into the mood for the Olympic Games, we don’t know what will.
The Olympic Games, which were postponed for a year because of the Covid pandemic, officially get under way in Tokyo on Friday – although the first matches in the women’s football and softball tournaments have already taken place.
There’s going to be a lot of sporting excitement over the coming three weeks, but the “Wienerlympics” are a tough act to follow.
The brilliant YouTube video features Crusoe the Dachshund, one of the world’s most popular sausage dogs, who has nearly 1.5million YouTube subscribers.
In the video, which is two minutes of your time well spent, Crusoe races against three other sausage dogs – Titan, Jellybean and Rain – on a running track. There’s a hilarious commentary and a slow-motion shot of the finish line.
After the race, of course there’s a medal ceremony. Unfortunately, the winner falls asleep on the podium. That’s something you’re not very likely to see in Tokyo.
