With lockdown finally coming to an end, it's great that we can finally get out and about again.
As a dog owner, my favourite activities are going on day trips and staycations around the UK with my beautiful goldies.
So when I got the opportunity to review the Waggy Caddy, I jumped at the chance.
When the Waggy Caddy arrived I was both excited and full of anticipation.
My first impression was that I was amazed by the overall quality of the bag - both sturdy, smart and practical with loads of compartments for different items.
It's also completely waterproof and very easy to clean, perfect for the temperamental English weather.
I am also impressed by how well stocked it is with essential dog goodies. The bag contains:
- 2 foldable water bowls
- a soft blanket for car journeys
- a light up collar with attachable bells
- waste bag dispenser with 6 rolls of biodegradable bags
- smaller waterproof bags perfect for storing food
- a slicker brush
- A chucker with tennis ball
- Wet wipes
- a soft squeaky bone toy
- a travel water bottle
- a bag of training treats
- a red frisbee
- a handy safety belt harness for car journeys.
The bag was an immediate hit with Marley, aged 9, and Lana, aged 9 months, my two golden retrievers.
I couldn’t stop them from sticking their noses in and checking out their new goodies.
Funnily enough, their favourite item was the soft blanket. After running off with the blanket they proceeded to play tug of war with it. I can vouch that it must be high quality as it is still in one piece!
The tennis ball and chucker is also a handy product to have. It is smaller than some of the standard chuckers but just as effective and easier to store in the bag. A must have for those trips to the beach.
I am also impressed with the pack of chicken training treats. They are both low fat and gluten free, which is great with a number of dogs out there gluten intolerant like my Marley. My only criticism is that only one pack is included within the bundle as they went down an absolute treat (pun intended).
Something that took me by surprise was the brush included. At first, I thought it was just a standard slicker brush. However, on closer inspection I could see that there was a push button which retracts and releases the fur collected. With golden retrievers, their hair is a daily battle and I’m constantly having to pick it out of a normal slicker brush and in the process pricking my fingers. I have never come across this glorious invention before and will be keen to spread the work with my golden retriever group.
Out of the whole pack the only item I feel needs some improving is the travel water bottle. The plastic used is very thin and when puppy Lana got her paws on it, she had bitten through it within a few minutes. Something to watch if your naughty pooch likes to chew.
Overall I am very impressed with the Waggy Caddy and can’t wait to take it away with me on my next staycation next month. I think it’s a great product for dog owners who love to get away like me but also it would work well as a starter kit for anyone who has just got a new puppy or dog. Although £115 seems like a lot of money to pay in the first instance, when you look at the number of items you receive for this and the quality of the products it really is a great deal!
