Southampton, Brighton and York have been named amongst some of the most dog-friendly towns and cities in the UK.
As a nation of dog lovers, there are a number of factors to consider when raising a metropolitan pooch.
A new study by Coulters, has analysed the best places in the UK to bring up your dog, based on the number of groomers, green space, walks, accommodation and pet-friendly restaurants.
Coastal Southampton took the top spot, ranking highly across the board, but particularly so for its idyllic walking routes.
The port city has 39.3 walking routes per 100,000 people, which is around 106 in total, and earned an overall pet-friendly score of 65.72 out of 100.
In second place was Brighton and Hove, with an overall score of 56.84 out of 100, commended for its volume of dog-friendly dining spots, there were 69 restaurants and cafes in the city that allowed dogs to dine in.
York came in third, with 61 groomers in the city, and an overall score of 51.62 out of 100.

On the other end of the scale was Birmingham, Coventry and Kingston upon Hull, with fewer walking routes and green spaces.
