One of the most devastating things to happen to a dog owner is when their beloved pet goes missing or is cruelly stolen.

Even worse, when they are only a tiny puppy hardly a chance to make those cherished memories together.

For one man, he had an incredibly lucky break with his then four-month-old Belgian Shepherd named Bandit.

The young pup disappeared from his home in Côte-d´Or, North Eastern France, back in September 2020.

Heartbroken by his young pup's unknown whereabouts, owner Farid desperately tried to find his four-legged friend, but with no success.

Eight months later, on May 21, 2021, Bandit was spotted sitting on the side of a road in Fabregues, around 310 miles away from his home.

After being rescued and taken to an animal shelter named SPA Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, it was soon discovered that the canine was actually stolen.

Fortunately, thanks to being microchipped, the dog was quickly identified and Farid was told that his pet had miraculously been found.

The Frenchman instantly drove to collect his long-lost hound, where dog rescue staff filmed Bandit and Farid emotional reunion.

During the heart-warming clip, the dog is seen walking out of a van, where he appears to instantly recognise his owner.

Farid then bends down with his arms wide open to which Bandit excitedly jumps up and wags his tail upon being hugged.

As the loving scene plays out, the video, which has French subtitles, roughly translates: "An animal will show you unconditional love, if you want to take care of them. They will know how to return the favour without hesitation.

"This story teaches us one thing is that an animal does not forget everything that we have been able to give it."

"SPA Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is proud to participate in this kind, extraordinary event.”

As the duo climbed into their vehicle to drive home, the clip concludes: "We hope the best for Bandit and his master."

We hope that Bandit is happy and safe back where he belongs.
