This dog’s third birthday celebration has made all his best pals jealous – because he had a cake made to look exactly like him!

English springer spaniel Kenzi celebrated his birthday with a party thrown by owners Tom Kiefer, 55, and his wife Melissa Kiefer, 41.

As Kenzi’s canine pals donned party hats, his owners brought out the replica cake which they forked out $90 (£65) on, featuring lookalike shaggy curly hair.

The chicken-flavoured delight went down a treat with the birthday boy’s best pals Louie, Shadow and Mia, who all needed a long nap after feasting in the sunshine.

Tom, a machinist from Warwick, Rhode Island, USA, said: "The party was an absolute success! We put a couple of small kiddie pools out for the pups, and other than that, they all kind of just hung out with cake hangovers!

"We’ve done parties for all our past pups too – we don’t have kids so we like to spoil our dogs instead."

The life-size cake made by Jack's Snacks – a bakery run by the couple's friend, Marni MacLean Karro – took pride of place at the party on Tuesday (August 17).

She spent more than an hour using frosting to make it look exactly like the birthday boy.

Tom said: "The cake was made out of all human grade ingredients with no salt or sugar and everything was sourced locally in New England.

"They used peanut butter and cream cheese frosting with a bit of squid ink for the black to make it look just like Kenzi.

"The main part of the head was filled with handmade treats in the shape of hearts that the bakery also makes.

"The dogs loved all of the treats inside the cake and devoured it. I'm surprised they didn’t choke with how quickly they ate it!"
