Have you ever considered swapping the corporate world for the countryside? Do you want a better work-life balance? Have you always dreamed of working with animals?
With the pandemic leaving many people questioning their career choices or with threats of redundancy, now could be a good time to make the leap.
And what better job is there than one where you get to work with dogs?
Whether that’s as a dog walker, pet sitter, dog boarding, house sitting, or even as the boss of your own dog-friendly business, WeLovePets have some fantastic opportunities available.
Appearing on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 along with his dog Amber, Ryan White, Franchise Director at We Love Pets spoke about the amazing jobs opportunities the business currently has available.
The show mentioned there were more than 1,000 jobs available paying from £9 an hour, as well as franchise opportunities with profits from £20,000 a year.
Does working with dogs sound like a dream?
Here are the roles currently available with We Love Pets.
Get paid to get out and about at your local beauty spots with a job as a dog walker. You’ll get full training, including pet first aid, plus plenty of opportunities to learn more about pet care and animal behaviour.
The job requires you picking up the dog from their home and then driving them to an open space to enjoy a walk, explore, and some sniffing time. You’ll then take them home, check them over and give them a well-deserved drink.
You’ll need to be available through the week during the day.
How would you like spending time with a dog at home without the actual commitment of owning one?
As long as you’ve got a pet-friendly home, a secure garden and a lot of love to give, this could be the role for you.
Rather than put their dogs in a kennel, some owners would prefer their dogs to be placed in the care of a loving home.
We Love Pets will take care of the licensing, insurance and bookings so all you’ve got to do is care for the dogs.
Offering you the chance to spend time with pets in their own home, if flexibility is what you’re after, this is for you.
You’ll be required to make visits to care for the dog, feed them, water them and generally play and make a fuss of them. You’ll also be required to send regular updates to their owners.
Similar to pet sitting, you’ll be required to look after dogs in their own environment except you’ll also be required to stay there.
You’ll need to feed them, care for them, walk them and play with them. It provides peace of mind to owners while they’re on holiday knowing their precious pets and their home are being well looked after.
If you’d prefer to work behind the scenes, there are some business support roles that you could apply for.
These include management, administration, social media and more.
While you won’t be working directly with the animals, all staff receive training in pet first aid so a passion for animals is a must.
Become your own boss
For those looking for a complete change of pace and would prefer to work for themselves, the business also offers franchise opportunities.
Start up your own business with access to support and training along the way and your very own dedicated support manager.
As well as practical animal care training and a City & Guilds qualification, you’ll get sales support, help with recruitment, online marketing, social media set up and everything you need to make your new business a success.
