While holidaying overseas has not yet been given the green light, I’m sure many of us will be booking a holiday in the sun once we’re finally allowed.

Although the UK has some lovely staycation destinations, sometimes you just can’t beat lying around a pool with a cocktail in hand under the glaring sun.

But with 3.2 million households in the UK taking on fluffy friends during the lockdown, it means that there are now 17 million pet-owning homes in the UK according to the Pet Food Manufacturers Association.

That’s a lot more of us that have now got to make arrangements for our dogs when we jet off on holiday.

But while we may have many reputable kennels nearby or friends and family happy to dog-sit while we’re away, what about giving the dog a much-needed holiday too?

If you don’t like the thought of going on holiday without the whole squad then Eurocamp has many locations that are perfect for countryside walks and deserted beaches for the pooch to explore, meaning you can leave the kennels behind and extend your holiday instead.

With easy accessibility from the ferry, Eurocamp parcs are a perfect way to avoid the hustle and bustle of busy airports and planes – keeping the whole family, and of course the dog, happy.

Need some holiday inspiration? Here are three dog-friendly parks you can visit in Europe.

Domaine des Ormes, Brittany

Set in 400 acres of wooded parkland this five-star parc is the perfect destination for families bringing their dog, and even better is that it’s just a 40 minute drive from the port at St Malo.

Kids can enjoy the new tropical dome pool complex, treetop adventure course and zipline to name just a few activities. Plus Mont St Michel is also within easy reach for a highly recommended day out.

Prices start from £971 per holiday home based on a seven-night stay in August 2021.

Campingpark Gitzenweiler Hof, Germany

Get back to nature in Germany and immerse yourself with woodland and lakeside wandering. This award-winning parc is ideal for young families as it has its very own farm, pool complex, basketball courts and even a disco!

Indulge in the local cuisines, take a boat trip to nearby Austria and Switzerland or how about spending a lazy afternoon at a local Bavarian vineyard.

Prices from £933 per holiday home based on a seven-night stay in August 2021.

Valle Gaia, Tuscany

Set in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, Valle Gaia is surrounded by a blend of pine, olive and cypress trees. This small parc is quiet and relaxing with two pools, a traditional pizzeria and a well-stocked wine cellar!

Nearby, you can go horse riding or try the windsurfing school at the beach 9 km away. Off-parc you’ll discover plenty of nearby places to explore like the town of Cecina, home to a lovely (and dog-friendly) sandy beach and Pisa with its famous leaning tower is just 45 minutes away.

Prices from £936 per holiday home based on a seven-night stay in August 2021.
