Does your dog have what it takes to be a charity ambassador?

Beatson Cancer Charity are searching in Glasgow and West Scotland for who could take the role at the next official ‘Ambassadog’ at their upcoming fundraising event.

Set to take place during National Dog Week, the Paw Walk aims to raise funds for Scotland’s leading cancer research centre.

However, the event will also help Beatson find a replacement for its current ‘Ambassadog’!

Loveable Golden Retriever Comet was crowned after last year’s event, but is ready to hand over the lead to the next fundraising pup.

Participants are invited to share photos of their four-legged friends on social media, where Beatson will be on the lookout for their new king or queen.

Entry to the walk is £10 and includes a doggie bag filled with goodies such as a branded bandana for pups and Beatson T-Shirt for humans.

Charlene Low, corporate partnership fundraiser said: “Since we had to cancel many of our events due to the pandemic, we wanted to find a fun way to fundraise whilst respecting the social distancing arrangements.

“Daily walks with my Beagle, Ditsy, have been hugely beneficial for me during lockdown and I know many of our patients feel the same especially during treatment.

“We are all thrilled with our new dog tartan items so we think the Paw Walk is the perfect event and will be very popular raising much needed funds for our charity.

“Our supporters go above and beyond for us – can't wait to see the photos of them out and about in yellow.”

Martin Cawley, CEO of the Beatson Cancer Charity, added: “Last year’s Paw Walk was a great success, and we really hope that dog-lovers across Glasgow and the west can help us deliver an even bigger event this year.”

The charity event will benefit The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, helping towards their life-saving research.

Owners are advised to be quick to book a place, as the first 50 sign-ups will receive a round of app-paws and a goodie bag courtesy of pet retailer and supplier, Creature Comforts!

The event runs from Monday, September 20 to Sunday, September 26.
