Can you match the doggy to their Lions rugby playing owner?

Between them, they have an absolutely adorable squad of pets

They are the dogs who have stolen the hearts of the British and Irish Lions stars. When they are not making bruising tackles on the pitch, there is nothing these tough boys like more than walking their four-legged friends and cuddling up for a post-match hug. But can you match the furry canine to their sporty dad?

1. This Irish powerhouse has beaten 255 defenders in the PRO14 since making his debut in 2014. He is powerful and strong, so it’s probably not a surprise that his dog is a bruising British Bulldog.

2. Otis the French bulldog follows his Irish second row daddy around whenever the Munster Rugby player is not on the pitch. Pictured here with the Irish rugby star’s girlfriend Hannah, the dog is clearly one of the family.

3. This Welshman lives on a farm with his fiancée Jeian and that can only mean one thing – they are used to having doggy company. Check out this throwback pic to their adorable sheepdog puppy. Cuteness overload!

4. This Scottish prop welcomed Reggie, a beautiful French bulldog puppy into his family alongside his wife and their boys Mason and Hamish back in February and it’s hard not to look at that face without saying, ‘Aw.’

5. When the Irish back row is at home, he loves nothing more than spending time with his wife Jean-Marie and daughter Everli and their two beautiful King Charles Cavaliers Abbie and George, who even helped them announce the birth of their much-wanted daughter after a long fertility battle.

6. This Irish scrum-half assisted 25 tries in the Six Nations, at least eight more than any other player but we know who the boss is in his house. The Ireland ace was pestered into buying a lockdown pup by his girlfriend Joanna Cooper and the Munster star and his model girlfriend now have Kevin the Cavapoo!

7. The English flanker introduced his social media following to little Toby the Dachshund back in September 2020. Check out the adorable video on his social media feeds and just look at him out for a walk in a yellow raincoat. So lush!

8. This Welsh scrum-half loves his British Bulldog Pete and little Chihauhau Winnie so much they even took part at his clifftop proposal to girlfriend Katy Griffiths at St Brides Bay in Pembrokeshire. Good work from the Scarlets player.

9. Which England hooker brought his handsome Hungarian Vizsla pup, Otto, home last Autumn and hasn’t stopping cuddling him since? The Saracens star has some great pics on his Insta feed.

10. This Irish centre enjoys time off the pitch in company of his terrier Buster and gorgeous Luna, a black Labrador. The Leinster rugby player, the only Lions eligible centre to make more than 100 carries since the start of 2020, showed her off on Insta after getting her vaccines and she is simply stunning.

11. He was the star of the recent Six Nations for Wales and it’s fair to say this wing gets just as much adoration at home as he does on the field, thanks to his pet dog. Here she is all dressed up for Christmas and enjoying a hug from the 19-year-old starlet.

12. He is Scotland’s newest weapon on the wing, and this Edinburgh winger also loves his French Bulldog. And we can see why? What a cutie!

13. He may captain Scotland but this Exeter rugby star certainly has a soft side and is dad to two fluffy Springapoos who are very much part of his team, alongside his wife Gillian and children Archie, Olivia and George.

14. This hooker is pretty nifty throwing the ball to his Exeter and English clubmates but when he’s at home he doesn’t think twice about donning Christmas PJs and posing with his family, including two Frenchies!

15. How can a dog be just so gorgeous? This little fellow joined the family of this Leinster player back in August 2020 and his owner, a back row, is pretty nifty at tackling for the Irish team. We bet he loves playing ball with this adorable Labrador.

16. This dog is, quite literally, king of the Cotswolds, and loves nothing more than walking with his owner when he has a day off from his Gloucester duties. The Scottish-born centre named him Koba but who is he?

17. If ever a rugby player matched his dog, we reckon this England and Northampton Saints player and his British Bulldog are the perfect pair. He won more lineouts than any other player in the 2017 tour and if he’s got his four-legged friend to help him practise he’ll be winning even more this summer.
