Vets Now has put together a dog owner’s guide to the 50 best and safest dog-friendly beaches in the country.
Bispham Beach, on the Lancashire Coast, ranked within the top 50 thanks to its sprawling and well-maintained sands, views of the Irish sea and top facilities.
Though only a short distance from Blackpool – about 11 minutes, to be precise – Bispham is very much a separate village, meaning you could easily end up with the whole beach to yourself.
Most importantly, it’s only a 12 minute drive to the nearest daytime vet, and has a three out of five water quality rating.
Close to dog-friendly venues like The Queen’s Hotel, at Lytham St Anne’s, this beach also features public toilets and dog bins.
In fact, you and your dog can even board the Blackpool trams for a trip along the esplanade, with pups welcome on for only 50p. A Rover ticket also lets your pooch travel all day for £1.
A statement from Vets Now reads: “The Lancashire coast has some of Britain’s best beaches – but dogs are banned on many, especially in summer. Thankfully, you won’t find that problem at sandy Bispham beach, just up the road from Blackpool.
“Dog owners in Lytham should make tracks for the Station Pub and Grill. This former station is the ‘rail’ thing with four- legged visitors more than welcome while you enjoy a variety of fantastic beers.”
